In a household where her Parents were both pianists and choral singers it was no surprise that Mary wrote her first song when she was ten. Influenced by her elder brother Nick, in his fascination of music and his forming of school boy rock band Kyx that appeared on children’s TV in the early 80’s. Mary secretly always wanted to write music and be in band!
This opportunity came knocking rather later than expected when after the birth of her fourth child, the need to sing was paramount. The first of her songs came out of the bedroom and into the world!
Together with Gael Mosesson and Mollie O’Brien formed
Mythtwister, a sassy trio famed for lush vocal
arrangements and outrageous lyrics. Two years later they
played at Glastonbury 2005. Mary studied for two years at
Access to Music College. She graduated with Distinction
and was nominated by her tutors for the “Outstanding
Student of the year award”. She was presented the award
by Radio One’s Edith Bowman at the BAFTAS in December
2006.
Mary became a solo artist in 2006 and is delighted to be performing with her Brother Nick Lovett who is an excellent and intuitive musician Paul Meek, fantastic bass player, drummer and pianist and more recently the marvelous Adam Moore who is an awesome guitarist and songwriter.
