Community Music
Mary is actively involved in community music, particularly in facilitating vocal workshops for children and adults. This is an area that Mary finds particularly rewarding as she is passionate about the benefits of singing for confidence and self expression and the heightened self esteem that can be achieved through music and song. Mary specialises in A’Capella singing and uses material from around the world she also composes her own material for voices and would like to do more. The ethos that she works with is that singing is for everyone regardless of age or ability and you don’t have to read music or be highly skilled. Just willing!
Mary has been a Musical Director for two Community Choirs the Big heart and Soul Choir at Castle Acre Norfolk and Singers inspired at Downham Market. Here’s what they said about her.
“We invited Mary to be our Musical Director for a term; she juggled her life around to accommodate this in a very short time. Coming into an unknown entity she was fantastic. Very friendly, relaxed and her musical talents and abilities were clearly evident to see. We loved her. We will be asking her back for more!”

Singers Inspired had a terrific start to 2008 led by Mary Lovett. The community choir, based in Downham Market, enjoy singing songs, ancient and modern, from around the world.
“Mary had just the right approach, making it fun yet keeping us in order. Although a friendly informal choir we do take our singing seriously. We learn by ear and Mary was just great at teaching us a variety of songs. We seemed to learn so well from Mary, picking up new, and some challenging, harmonies. We are really looking forward to Mary coming back to conduct us for the summer months.”
