An independent Music publishing and production company has hit the high notes after winning a prize at the Bafta awards for getting involved with the community. Mary Lovett of Hesset based Full Colour Music won the award. Ms Lovett 35 is a voice coach who visits schools and art festivals to help people develop their singing skills. She also releases her Kate Bush inspired songs through Full Colour Music. Ms. Lovett who formally played at the Glastonbury Festival with Mythtwister, started Full colour Music with a friend Simon Burley, who is the company’s technical guru. Being an independent music company gives Full Colour Music a chance to express a wide range of musical influences from around the world, said Ms Lovett. She added “The big difference for us is that we are in total control of what we are doing and don’t need to continually run around other people asking them what they think. It is nice to create our own musical agenda and, with the arrival of the internet, the whole scene has been blown right open. Full Colour Music are in the process of launching there own website and will be producing a comedy musical later this year. Ms Lovett was presented with her Access to Music College Award by Radio 1 DJ Edith Bowman.

Norwich student Mary Lovett will be singing her way to success when her band Mythtwister performs at this summers Glastonbury Festival. They will be playing alongside some of the world’s hottest acts including the White stripes Kylie and ATM Patron Jools Holland. Featuring three female harmonies, Mythtwister describe themselves as playing “sassy challenging music with intelligent storylines.” Counting among their influences Kate Bush, Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd, they really are a must see show! Further dates are on the horizon but this is not the work of a manager or booker. Mary and her band mates have done all the hard work themselves and it has taken a great deal of determination. She told us: “We have spent a lot of time rehearsing our set which can be tricky when you have four children. But my kids are really supportive, they love the fact that there mum is in a band, especially if it means they get free Glastonbury tickets!
